Drove up to the Mornington Peninsula in the morning. We stopped for breaky at The Bridge Hotel Cafe Bar in Mordialloc which was pretty good.
We kept driving and man was there a lot of traffic. It should've taken us 1/2 an hour but it took us an hour from the city. We reckon it's worse that Sydney.
When we got there we just stopped at one of the little beaches coz we figured they'd all be similar but it was super cute and the water was nice and it had some of those cute beach huts on it.
After this we wanted to see Brighton Beach coz that's where the big long line of these cute beach huts is so we left the Mornington Peninsula. As we were leaving we drove through the shops. It was like palm beach but about 40 times more shops!
Brighton Beach...
We only stayed for a few mins but I'm glad I got some cool shots.
Scott got an ice cream...
It was now time to check into our Penthouse sweet in the Novotel on St Kilda Beach (just 15 minutes away from the Crown) where we were supposed to stay for the next 2 nights. We were all excited coz this was the place we were spending the most on and it was a pent house etc. etc. but when we got there (after carrying all our lugage up and doing all the check in crap) we were not happy. The place was really unwelcoming. There were big bugs on the inside of the windows, the balcony was tiny and had no furniture to sit on, the couch was old and stinky...bla bla bla. So we managed to get our money back and went looking for somewhere else to stay.
We found something within 2 minutes, just around the corner. It was awesome. The Prince of Wales Hotel. It's a boutique hotel on top of a pub. So so much nicer than the novotel. Nice personal and quirky touches around the place. Free parking (had to pay $20 a day at novotel), free wifi (not at the novotel) and a free breaky each morning (nope not at the novotel). It was also a little bit cheaper. We lucked out there I think. We were very happy until the second night when at 2am the pub was still carrying on like a kings cross night club. Apart from that, all was good.
The rest of the first day was spent walking around the bars. We had a yummy snack and some amazing pimms cocktails at Laika tapas bar just up the road from where we were staying and then went and checked out the Espy which we weren't too impressed with. It was pretty gross inside but there were no good bands playing while we were there so we didn't get to experience that which I'm sure would've made the place better.
Laika tapas bar.
Dinner was at Ichi Ni Japanese/other asian foods restaurant right next to the Espy. It was very pricy and not the best we've had. A good spot though.
We spent the rest of the evening drinking champas and watching cricket in our cool little room.
Day 13 over.
