We had a sleep in and got on the road around 9:30 to head to the Coonawarra Region for the next two nights. About a 4.5 hour drive. Took us a bit longer.
First stop was for some lunch in Wellington where we had to catch a cable ferry over the Murray River so we thought we'd watch it for a bit before we got on. It was only a 2 minute ride over. After lunch we drove onto the ferry ourselves.
Next stop was Jacks point. There was all this water along the highway that looked purple and when we found this pull over spot we thought we should do just that and have a look. We don't know why it was purple looking. If anyone knows let us know. Jacks point had a lot of pelicans flying overhead....like A LOT! We got up to a look out bit and found out there was an island across the water that was a 'pelican creche'.

We carried on to Panola which is the town centre of the Coonawarra Wine Region. We grabbed some yummy lunch at the Vintage Cafe and had a little look around town, including a gorgeous little art gallery called Local Images Art Gallery run by a lovely lady. It had a really nice little book shop out the back too where I bought some xmas gifts.
We then headed to our stone cottage - High Bank. I couldn't believe how amazing it was. It had an adult sized wooden swing looking over the vineyard, a cool loft bedroom and a fire place.
The sunsets were amazing here.
The Cellar Door. We didn't go here unfortunately.
We had dinner at an Italian restaurant called Fodder about 5 mins up the road. We wanted to have a drink so we had to order a cab which was $30 each way. This place was recommended to us by quite a few people in town but we weren't that impressed with the pizza. I also ended up sick the next day. Nice little spot though. We did get a lovely bottle of 2000 WYNNS Shiraz though.
