Day Seventeen

THURSDAY 29TH NOVEMBER

We got started on our long drive up to Thredbo early. I think it took us around 7 - 8 hours.

The start of the drive was so pretty - through the Yarra Ranges National Park.

We stopped at Bonnie Doon just quickly coz Scott wanted to see the water from 'The Castle'. Nothing to write home about I guess but we can say we've been there.

Our next stop was at Beechworth for lunch. It is a really cute little town. Em and Rob said we should stop there. We grabbed lunch at the local Deli which was really yummy. 

Then came the rest of the drive (Murray Valley Hwy). It was so pretty when we got up into the mountains. Super windy road!!

It was a scorcher of a day so we kept our eye out for a stream to dip our feet in. We finally found one (don't know exactly where it was) that was easy to walk to and it was like heaven to splash our face and walk around in it.

Thredbo Mountain with snow right up the top on a 35 degree day! I didn't know it stayed this long and in such heat!

When we finally made it to Thredbo, it was around 4:30 and the chairlift was shut so we couldn't do any walks or go on the bob sled thingos. It was awesome to see the mountain with no snow on it though. There is a golf course and tennis courts and a pool. You can buy a pass for the day for like $50 and you get to use all the things there but we were leaving the next day so we didn't get a chance to do any of it. 

We decided to stay down in Jindabyne at the Banjo Paterson Inn where it gets super busy in Winter. The accommodation was ok. It was looking over the lake so there's nothing wrong with that. 

After we checked in we decided to go jump in Jindy Lake which of coarse we have never done before because we're only there in Winter. This day was the perfect day. It was amazing. It was cold but not unbearable, infact it was seriously refreshing after that long hot drive. It was pretty strange that it was fresh water. You don't float at all. 

We had dinner at a new mexican restaurant at old nuggets crossing which was pretty cool. The owners were there and we chatted to them about how it was all going coz they only opened up that last winter season. Not surprising that it was a massive hit. 

Then we played some pool at Banjos where it was weirdly quiet but cool to see it at a different time.

Then all we had to do was stumble up stairs to our room and hop into bed.
